I RUN...for National Running Day!

In case you need an excuse to get out and run today, June 1st is the 3rd annual National Running Day!

This day was organized by Running USA to be "a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running. It is a coast-to-coast celebration of a sport and activity that’s simple, inexpensive and fun. It’s the perfect way for long-time runners to reaffirm their love of running and for beginners to kick off a lifetime and life-changing commitment. National Running Day is a collaborative effort of the foremost running organizations in the U.S. including Atlanta Track Club, Boston Athletic Association, Chevron Houston Marathon, Chicago Area Runners Association, Competitor Group, Inc., Little Rock Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon, New York Road Runners, Oregon Track Club, Running USA, Twin Cities In Motion and USA Track & Field."

Most runners I know don't need to be reminded to declare their passion for running (blog? I rest my case), but if you need a boost, fly your freak flag today. You can do so by entering in the reason you run on the main Web site...

I RUN because "my wife says I'm much nicer after a run". Can't beat that!

  1. I run for freedom, for health and for the mental clarity/stillness it gives me as I drift through the miles.

It makes me very sad that I won't be able to run today owing to achilles tendenitis. I wish there was a quick fix for it (-:

  2. I run because I can! Because other people can't always run! And because I just can't seem to stay away...

  3. I run for the breath. A great way to invigorate the mind, body and soul.

  4. I run because it keeps me sane and brings me closer to the person I aspire to be.

  5. Yep, I run to help keep me sane and in good shape, denying any suggestion of being middle aged.

  6. I run because it relaxes me.

However, I am trying to reinvent myself as a runner because in past years, my love of running became this obsession of winning.

I am changing that and learning all the benefits of running along the way.

I LIVE for comments! Please add your thoughts, let me know you stopped by, etc., and be thoughtful of others. Always best if you sign your name, of course.
