Headlines - Solinsky sets 10k AR, Krupicka/Semick win Miwok, Palmiero-Winters Makes 24-Hour Team (Video)

Whoa, what a week of running news! A few story links for your weekday reading...

Chris Solinsky broke a long-standing 10k American Record here at Stanford with an unbelievable 26:59, nearly 14 seconds faster than Meb Keflexighi's previous record. Eleven of the 24 runners who finished the race came in under 28 minutes, with Solinsky posting the fastest time in the world this season. Not bad for his first 10k race! Shannon Rowbury also wowed the crowds with her 15:00 5k performance where she outkicked Shalene Flanigan in the final stretch. Here's a video of Solinsky, and I think the commentary reflects the shock accurately.

Tony Krupicka won the Miwok 100k (8:02), edging out a very fit Hal Koerner (8:20) and an amazing performance by Rod Bien (8:29) to earn a slot to the 2010 Western States 100. This got Geoff Roes excited enough to talk about breaking WS course records. Kami Semick (9:10) won for the fourth time, with Devon Crosby-Helms (9:36) and Krissy Moehl (9:59) finishing out the podium.

USA Today has a nice article and video about Amy Palmiero-Winters, the amazing one-legged ultrarunner that made the US 24-Hour Team after winning the "Run to the Future" 24-hour race (130.4 miles).
