Overtapering (oh-vehr-tay-pehr-ing) – A period of excessive
rest, often accompanied by voluminous alcohol consumption, brought on by a
planned 50% reduction of training volume. Side effects include endless
fidgeting, restlessness, deep fears of loss of form, sunburns, phantom weight
gain, engaging in pointless activities like jogging across parks to make Strava art, ordering drinks served in pineapples, and a complete
inability to focus until race day.
Oh, but the memories... ;-)

Nice work on your Boston "Over-taper"
Scott, just heard about Boston. I don't "know" you, but my first thought was of my favorite running blogger. Hoping you are ok and praying for everyone effected.
ReplyDelete-Trent
Thanks, Trent. I was in a pub down the street having a celebratory beer when the explosions shook the windows. All the CA running folks I know are all accounted for. As my wife said, "I've never been happier you guys are all so fast".
ReplyDeleteHave a beer and a prayer for all those finish line families and volunteers....
Glad to hear you (and yours) are safe. Your next blog entry will be read with great interest.
DeleteHi Scott, Great to hear you are okay!! So very sad to hear about the tragedy at Boston. What a crazy world we live in.
DeleteGlad to hear you and your family are safe and sound. and the explosion wasn't near your pub. so horrible that this occurred :( we live in a fallen broken world... broken people we are... :/
ReplyDeleteAwesome to hear that your group is ok Scott
ReplyDeleteGlad you and your group are doing fine, Scott.
ReplyDelete(Second time you are escaping dramatic events, though this time was closer!)
Be safe.
Scott,
ReplyDeleteJust want to add my voice to the chorus of those thankful that you and those you know are all safe. I followed on facebook as the newsbroke and learned quickly that you were ok but wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and everyone else.
