Scott's Off-Season Training

This is about it for my off-season training - chasing Sophie around the shopping mall. Working on that aerobic base!

Do note I'm throwing in some upper body work at the end. ;-)

I hope y'all are having a great week!

  5. Sophie has the pacer duties down cold!
With that Pacer...You can knock off many a runner at Cool, AR or even states!

  6. Hi,

Long time lurker. I see you at races a lot and you always look surprised when I say "hi" to you by name :-)

Do I recognize Sophie's training area as outside Nordstrom at Stanford Mall?

  7. Enjoy the time you got with her now! When you blink, she'll be grown up and you'll wonder where the time gone.

And I read your tips in the December issue of TrailRunner, great info! Never thought about walking backward up hills to reverse the pounding that downhill running does.

  8. Stanford mall Nordstroms is right! One of the few places to get coffee when you have two dogs and a kid helping you shop.

Jon - walking backwards up hills has become a daily staple for me, and I think it has helped my hill running a ton. My weekly hill drill is to uphill 30 sec sprint, walk down, walk bkwd up, walk down x 6-10 reps. Burns the quads and hamstrings real good!

  10. Wow, you really gained speed and endurance, Scott, almost ready for States and take on the 30-39 age group ultra Grand Prix, now that Mark has (finally...) moved on to assume his age! ;-)

Take care and enjoy the Season!

    Jean.
