Dean Karnazes was nominated for the ESPN ESPY Award for "Best Outdoor Athlete". If you're a Dean fan, you can go vote for him here. Just scroll down and select "Best Outdoor Athlete" to see the list.
And if you're not a Dean fan, perhaps you could be convinced that Dean winning an ESPY is better than having it go to a bass fisherman or musher? ;-)

BTW, be sure to read Dean's account of his failed attempt to break the 24 hour record - he lost all ten toenails!

Scott, thanks for posting that link. I was wondering what happened with Dean's 24 hour attempt. I checked the webcast with less than 8 hours to go and he had gone just over 100 miles, which means he only ran about 20 miles between hours 12 and 16, and 28 miles between 16:15 and 24. It sounded very painful. A big accomplishment just to finish.
ReplyDeleteYou bet Dean should win a Espy!

Amazing story! Made we sweat just reading it!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not a huge Karno fan, I will give him a vote so ultrarunning can have its day in the sun.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Karno. Although he seems to be a publicity hound, he has inspired a lot of people (myself included) to push the envelop in all endeavors. Go Karno!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? Bass Angler, Mike Iaconelli gets my vote. Now, he is an athelete!
ReplyDeleteI've read some mixed feelings about Dean Karnazes lately, personally I think anyone who inspires others to be healthy is alright in my book...
ReplyDeleteDean won the ESPY! Check it out here...
