And I'm Moving To Substack...<p><b><u>Happy New Year</u></b>! I hope this finds you all healthy, and looking forward to 2023. I'm just back from a few weeks of rest in Oregon and California with the family, and now back in Vienna getting ready for a new year of trail running, triathlons, marathons, and travel adventure. </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipb3cMSoiVRdPC4vhoKAyZzkr40C5nJr-5LPQryn7pj5wTlGfl_4Sb9l2wVwL2g_oiFGthArvi81mvhdiAQ5z-FylDhnog2-GuzziQUGGsrJIPTwU5avKMeCUvGEuFxuHKS3yW135jjt1XOYYCX4Zt9vmiCiFiDK1eVFVX5qYmLwoSjJ03gwA/s1024/f66c5543-9b06-4959-96c5-0e7280fb8209.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipb3cMSoiVRdPC4vhoKAyZzkr40C5nJr-5LPQryn7pj5wTlGfl_4Sb9l2wVwL2g_oiFGthArvi81mvhdiAQ5z-FylDhnog2-GuzziQUGGsrJIPTwU5avKMeCUvGEuFxuHKS3yW135jjt1XOYYCX4Zt9vmiCiFiDK1eVFVX5qYmLwoSjJ03gwA/w400-h300/f66c5543-9b06-4959-96c5-0e7280fb8209.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="font-size: x-small;">(Quinn [11], Christi, Sophie [16], and me enjoying a laugh in our US-adopted hometown of Santa Barbara in Dec, 2023)</span></i></td></tr></tbody></table><p>I will be blogging more often this year, and am switching to <a href="https://trailrunner.substack.com/">Substack</a> for publishing. I find Substack is much better for comments and chats (and getting rid of spam comments), so I'm hoping it can help this blog return to more intimate roots. It's still all free, and I'll keep this web site here for posterity. You'll need to subscribe below to get email updates moving forward. </p><p>I hope you will follow along! Or even better, I hope to see you on the trails. </p><p>- Scott</p>

She compiled our chat into this article for <a href="https://ultrarunning.com/">Ultrarunning Magazine</a>, a publication I continue to read cover-to-cover every month (a <a href="https://ultrarunning.com/subscribe/">subscription</a> is a great gift idea!). </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA4PwlLspJRx3NUWRmL7K51Dpz1AmCgeAGNxqUBztk-R5ZvFmdDf8oyVzh187pyvrVfWL-wbI8ETUUuM5xvT4JCK_Hy2qCArwTinnAQovnfpF3m9rLCYsUdNjc507nf50tu2OT6LKlfG-YdXfS4K0dakKblMKFfEtp0RlJG54h5HAAKsiB7wM/s2175/ultrarunningmagnov22.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2175" data-original-width="1675" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA4PwlLspJRx3NUWRmL7K51Dpz1AmCgeAGNxqUBztk-R5ZvFmdDf8oyVzh187pyvrVfWL-wbI8ETUUuM5xvT4JCK_Hy2qCArwTinnAQovnfpF3m9rLCYsUdNjc507nf50tu2OT6LKlfG-YdXfS4K0dakKblMKFfEtp0RlJG54h5HAAKsiB7wM/w308-h400/ultrarunningmagnov22.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>It's fun to look back at those past predictions of how technology and trail running might intersect. The wearables industry (watches and other products with body sensors) continues to grow 25%+ annually, shaping how tens of millions of athletes enter and continue their fitness journeys. I've seen some self-driving car demos that would indicate it won't be long until the day your car comes and finds you at whatever trailhead you pop out of. It will be interesting what that means for FKT's and point-to-point running. I'll be doing it, for sure!<div><br /></div><div>But in conclusion, there's still nothing quite like a "naked run" (naked of tech, or naked of everything) to connect your soul to nature. I'm so happy to see the trail running culture retain this, on both sides of the Atlantic, and beyond. <br /><p><br /></p></div>Scott Dunlaphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16096284778835123584noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-63734586760042147362022-10-11T04:27:00.001-07:002022-10-11T04:27:19.332-07:00Scott Dunlap Interview On The Singletrack Podcast with Finn Melanson (Oct, 2022)<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5-NL7ehdX8OZ78bwnzvgzZc_hfuTQ9LE8vI6KvN4j2MSkXDBcHMnQAovvCnc8p9IX-0P8417ShXi-xEXnsFi8iGkK_3Xyo2Ux_JYkwo1wJFLxYKteqzxmwIXwz2BtFbw4h3t4dDzHD7lpMv8vetU8TpZoOwveI5bGI9mw6ABC-TJr9Wt1KIU/s500/singletrack.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5-NL7ehdX8OZ78bwnzvgzZc_hfuTQ9LE8vI6KvN4j2MSkXDBcHMnQAovvCnc8p9IX-0P8417ShXi-xEXnsFi8iGkK_3Xyo2Ux_JYkwo1wJFLxYKteqzxmwIXwz2BtFbw4h3t4dDzHD7lpMv8vetU8TpZoOwveI5bGI9mw6ABC-TJr9Wt1KIU/s320/singletrack.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Last week, I had a great opportunity to chat with <a href="https://www.finnmelanson.com/">Finn Melanson</a>, host of <a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7jAsWCRNSCU8nh81vrAaC2?si=17686da7968b4e53&nd=1">The Singletrack Podcast</a>. He has been producing some great interviews with a full range of crazy characters of trail and ultra running, and I was flattered to be in the line up. We chat about trail running, philosophy, blogging, podcasting, web3, adidas, screen time vs the outdoors, and more.
