I fear him in everything...... except maybe the technical stuff :)
Congrats.
Rod BienRod Bienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15830582122820452989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-34532195112273656912007-11-29T11:13:00.000-08:002007-11-29T11:13:00.000-08:00Having recently met Roy at Ultra Centric it is gre...Having recently met Roy at Ultra Centric it is great to see such an ice person was awarded (rightfully so) with that honor.

Congrats to the rest as well!Danehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07775306723201816352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-18735773007298906932007-11-29T10:17:00.000-08:002007-11-29T10:17:00.000-08:00Rod - True that Jurek had another amazing year. I suspect the Ultrarunning Magazine Runners of the Year might be different!

- SDScott Dunlaphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16096284778835123584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-39322818468835532962007-11-29T10:15:00.000-08:002007-11-29T10:15:00.000-08:00Rod: I won't be in Marin because I already know ho...Rod: I won't be in Marin because I already know how I stack up against Uli and Carpenter -- i.e., very poorly! I also agree that Jurek (and others) had years comparable to or better than mine. My guess is that USATF picked me because I happened to have my best results at its official championship and "Team USA" races: the IAU World Trail Challenge (Sunmart), 50K and 100K road championships, and World Cup 100K.

Peter: Just make sure your kids send their college applications to Massachusetts (Williams' location, despite what the press release says), not Vermont!crowtherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01636268417511507679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-17130627162082937432007-11-29T08:21:00.000-08:002007-11-29T08:21:00.000-08:00Nice to read about all the amazing accomplishments...Nice to read about all the amazing accomplishments of the winners and interesting that 25% of the winners studied at Williams College in Vermont. Maybe that's where I should send my kids ;)Peter Lubbershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09879965812417533648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-41707743420209493402007-11-29T07:03:00.000-08:002007-11-29T07:03:00.000-08:00Greg Crowthers is an amazing and fast runner. That being said, I'm not sure how you can overlook Scott Jurek's accomplishments..... the Hardrock and Spartathlon combo to me (along with his past feats show just how diverse a runner he is. Anyway, I guess that is why it is fun to discuss these things. Greg is a great runner and much congratulations should go to him. Too bad we're not seeing him in Marin this weekend to see how he stacks up against Uli and Carpenter!
A second congrats to Bev Abbs. She is one of the toughest runners out there. I have always said that if there is one person I do NOT want right behind me at the end of the race, its Bev. (she was about to reel me in at States!!). Her toughness is legendary!
Rod BienRod Bienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15830582122820452989noreply@blogger.com
