I"ve run ROTS four years in a row and it is a beauty.
I highly recommend diluting sports drinks -- I drink 1/3 Cytomax and the rest water and just keep diluting as the day goes on.
Interesting how you describe the camaraderie and trail courtesy. It is indeed indicative of the sport. Too bad this year's event had so many clashes between runners, esp in the 8- and 20-mile distances.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1127157573293119952005-09-19T12:19:00.000-07:002005-09-19T12:19:00.000-07:00Hi Scott, nice job at Sly 50k.I also use H2O / S-c...Hi Scott, nice job at Sly 50k.I also use H2O / S-caps twards the end of a race when I can`t handle the carb drinks anymore. The way I keep track of how many I`ve had,is by dividing them up into small plastic bags, and marking the bag with a time and or aid station, that way I never get to far ahead or behind schedule.

- John TAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1127004623137691572005-09-17T17:50:00.000-07:002005-09-17T17:50:00.000-07:00Thanks for all the comments, you guys. All water, on a really sweaty day, and clearly I start to fade. But anything too salty, even half dilluted gatoraide or the like, can be too strong and give me a headache which I think is due to higher blood pressure.

Anyway, for right now I put a cup of drink per gallon of water. That seems to work ok. And clearly, I drink it as warm as possible, body temp when I can.

R2000High Power Rocketryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11537203640644706903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1126887801107254652005-09-16T09:23:00.000-07:002005-09-16T09:23:00.000-07:00You are such an inspiration Scott. Lucky is my best friend and certainly is there on all my runs. He gives me the motivation to get out the door on days I feel like sleeping an extra hour :) Cheers and good luck in your future endeavours!Tiffahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10939359979763005079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1126854520203271472005-09-16T00:08:00.000-07:002005-09-16T00:08:00.000-07:00Very well written. A little crazy I must admit, but once upon a time I was riding a century or two so I guess we all have a little bit of craziness in us (I've since learned better and now stick to lifting heavy things and sprinting!).

I will visit again!Christian D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15618753014666502101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1126753675490031052005-09-14T20:07:00.000-07:002005-09-14T20:07:00.000-07:00Good Stuff.
