You're right, she's really good. I've been running trails and ultras for nearly eight years, and I think she captured it better than I ever have. And she clearly has fun. No, but it doesn't mean running isn't a big part of my life (and raising a family, etc., etc.). When I run with my neighbors on Wednesday, we talk about Kristin all the time and what an inspiration she is just by being herself no matter what challenges are put in front of her. As a matter of fact it was one of her articles that motivated me to train for my first marathon this coming January.
I've been running (on and off) for years and I've done trail running a few times. Sadly, my usual read of Runners World
includes about a 10 minute scan of the entire mag, and then a toss
into the trash can. I missed her article about trail running in
California with Scott Dunlap. It is an excellent piece of writing.
Much better than the smaller blurb this past month on running in
Austin. Anyway, my opinion of the value of her writing has
changed. I always thought she was a great person, but wasn't sure
why she was writing these articles as an accidental celebrity. Now
I do understand. She's got talent. If you missed the article,
check it out (as I did) on Scott Dunlap's blog.

http://runtrails.blogspot.com/2005/06/in-my-nature-city-girl-
explores-trail.html

It's worth a read. Scott also has an article that he wrote about
Kristin coming out to run with him, from his perspective. Read
Kristin's first, then Scott's. Good stuff.

Now I'm off to New Mexico and Arizona. Hopefully there's a trail
run in my future there. If not, I'll definitely get a few training
runs done in Santa Fe, Gallup and Flagstaff.

Andy CharlesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8860166.post-1119058286826178832005-06-17T18:31:00.000-07:002005-06-17T18:31:00.000-07:00Is Kristin going to do any trail races? You can find something close to it by heading SE (left) from Kings Mountain on the Skyline Trail, going about 1.2 miles out.
